1. Para comenzar ¿ Por qué no nos hablas algo sobre ti? (edad, que estudias o trabajas hoy en día, país, cuidad, algo más que quieras comentar.

**Estudio 3º año de Psicología en la Universidad de Barcelona, España, me encanta el cine de animación y la música, especialmente si es de los 80's jaja, mi madre me dice que soy joven pero con un alma vieja .
Los fines de semana trabajo en un centro de llamadas, asi que cuando estudio no tengo descanso, de lunes a viernes universidad y los fines de semana trabajo, aunque es un poco estresante eso me permite ahorrar para complacer mi 2º hobby... viajar.

To begin with, tell us something about you (age, what you are studying or working on, country, city, something else you want to say)
** I’m studying the 3rd year of my major (Psychology) at Universidad de Barcelona, Spain. I love animation movies and music, especially 80's music haha. My mom says I’m a young person, but with an old soul.
On weekends, I work at a call center, so during the school term I have no rest: from Monday to Friday it’s school time and I work on weekends. It’s a bit stressing, but that helps me save some money for my 2nd hobby: traveling.

2. ¿Recuerdas cuando decidiste dedicarte a esto de la foto manipulación?

**Pues hace unos dos años más o menos, el tiempo que entré a DA.

Do you remember when you decided for the first time to become an Photo manipulation?
** About two years ago, when I registered at DA.

3. ¿Has foto manipulado contenidos adultos ? Que impresión tienen para ti?

**Si eso se refiere a desnudos, la respuesta es no... no he tenido el placer de hacer este tipo de manipulaciones, aunque es algo pendiente que pronto espero hacer. A mi personalmente me encantan ese tipo de manipulaciones, la fotografía también, creo que el cuerpo humano es hermoso,siempre y cuando la manipulación o la fotografía se haga artísicamente y sin morbosidad.

Have you ever photo manipulate adult content?? What impression do you have on them?
** If you mean naked people, the answer is no... I haven’t had the chance of making that kind of editions, although it’s something that is still pending and I hope I can do it soon. Personally, I love that kind of editions, as well as photograph. Human body is beautiful, provided the edition or photograph is artistic and not morbid.

4. ¿Cuales autores de foto manipulación han influido en ti? (de tu niñez, adolescencia, actualidad)

**Ninguno... he visto muy buenos fotomanipuladores pero creo que ninguno ha influído de forma importante en mi.

Which photo manipulators have had an influence in you? (from your childhood, adolescence)
** No one... I’ve seen many good photograph editors, but I don’t think any of them has had an important influence on me.

5. ¿Qué herramientas usas para hacer tu trabajo?

**Sólo Photoshop, y de vez en cuando Terragen.

What tools do you use when you Photo manipulate?
**Only Photoshop, and maybe Terragen sometimes.

6. ¿Qué es lo que más te gusta foto manipular?

**Mmmm... pregunta difícil... creo que chicas, asi puedo convertirlas en hadas o damas góticas. Creo que una buena pose da mucho juego para manipular.

What do you like photo manipulate the most?
**Mmmm... that’s a hard question... Girls, I guess, so I can make them fairies or goth girls. I think a good pose gives you the chance to edit and create.

7. Que es lo que más odias o se te hace aburrido foto manipular?

**Cortar jajaja lo odio!! pero es lo que mejor intento hacer, si un stock no está bien recortado será difícil que se integre con el fondo.

What do you hate or find boring to photo manipulate?
**Cutting hahaha I hate it!! But that’s something I’m careful about: if a stock is not correctly cut, it will be hard to incorporate it to the work.

8. ¿De dónde agarras la mayoría de tu inspiración?

**La verdad es que sale de un buen stock, cuando veo un stock que me gusta y me llama la atención de inmediato la inspiración hace "toc toc" en mi cabeza, luego si a eso le añado una buena canción y un poco de incienso, es el paraíso para la creación.

where does most of your inspiration come from?
** It’s actually that I get a good stock; whenever I see a stock I like and calls my attention, immediately inspiration comes knocking on my door. Then I add a good song, some incense and voila: you get a creation haven.

9. ¿Eres autodidacta o has cursado estudios?

**Autodidacta. Me habría encantado cursar estudios sobre diseño pero estoy siguiendo un camino completamente diferente.

Are you self-taught or did you have education?
** Self taught. I would’ve loved studying design, but I’m on a totally different path.

10. ¿Tienes en mente algún proyecto especial, algo que siempre hayas querido hacer?

**Un concurso siempre he querido hacer un concurso, creo que pronto podré hacer este sueño realidad

Do you have in mind some special project, something you always wanted to do?
**A contest. I’ve always wanted to organize a contest. I think I’ll be able to make this dream come true soon

11. ¿Cómo a sido tu vida de foto manipulandor? ¿Tienes alguna experiencia que desees contar a los lectores , tanto buenas como malas?

**Pues... me gusta fotomanipular, he conocido gente estupenda por eso, gente que verdaderamente ahora después de 2 años en DA puedo llamar amigos y que siempre están cuando los necesito. Quizás lo que peor llevo son las críticas, por lo general yo ya soy bastante autocrítica y nunca subo un trabajo si es que no me gusta del todo, y claro recibir algunas críticas fuertes y a veces sin sentido me deprimen bastante... aunque con el tiempo he aprendido a controlarme ahora ya no me lo tomo todo tan seriamente

How has your life been as a photo manipulator? Any experience, good or bad, that you would like to share with the readers?
** Well... I like to edit photographs. I’ve met wonderful people due to this activity. Now, after 2 years in DA, I can call them friends since they are there whenever I need them. Maybe the worst part is criticism; in general, I’m a very hard critic as to my own work and I never upload a work I don’t like totally. And getting some harsh and sometimes senseless opinions is kind of depressing... However, I’ve learnt to keep it together. Now I don’t take things so seriously

12. ¿Qué consejo darías a alguien que va comenzando con esto?

**Que practique mucho, si ya sé... es un consejo bastante tonto y simple, pero es la verdad, siempre hay que intentar cosas nuevas, innovar, y si no puedes innovar, al menos se debe intentar hacer las cosas lo mejor posible.

What advice would you give to someone that is starting with photography?
** Keep on practicing. Yeah, I know: it’s a very dumb and simple advice, but it’s true: you should always try new things, innovate and, if you can’t innovate, at least make things to the best of your ability.

13. ¿Internet es una buena plataforma de promoción para los foto manipuladores?

**Yo creo que si, antes me costaba creer esto pero... ultimamente mucha gente me está pidiendo hacer retoques y trabajos manipulando sus fotos, y lo más increíble que me pagan por ello es algo que nunca pensé que pasaría.

Is internet a good promotion platform for photo manipulators?
** I think it is. In the beginning, I doubted it was so, but lately a lot of people is asking me to edit their photographs, and incredibly they pay me for that. That’s something I never thought would happen.

14. En caso de no poder ganarte la vida con la foto manipulación...¿qué mas podrías hacer?

**Tengo claro que no me ganaré la vida así, primero porque hay gente que ha estudiado y se dedica profesionalmente a esto, y segundo porque yo estoy estudiando otra cosa que me encanta y a la cual pienso dedicar todo mi tiempo en un futuro no muy lejano.

If you couldn't take pictures for a living, what else could you do?
** I know I can’t make this for a living; there are people who have studied and do it professionally and I’m studying another thing that I love, an activity I want to devote myself to full-time in the near future.

15. ¿Crees que intentar copiar el estilo de otro foto manipulador es una buena forma de aprender? ¿O hay maneras mejores?

**Para nada, tajantemente no... copiar no es bueno porque llegará el momento en que habrás copiado tanto que no podrás desarrollar nunca tu propio estilo. Yo siempre he creído que el "ensayo-error" es la mejor forma de aprender, si lo primero que haces no te gusta, inténtalo otra vez, seguro que la segunda cosa que hagas será mucho mejor que la primera

Do you think that trying to copy the style of another photo manipulators is a good way to learn? Do you think there are better ways?
** Not at all. Absolutely no. Copying is not good because a time will come when you’ll have copied so much that you won’t be able to develop your own style. I’ve always believed that practicing and making mistakes is the best way to learn. If you don’t like your first job, try again. More probably, the second work will satisfy you more than the first one

16. Podrías dedicarle un saludo a quien desees de internet o en tu vida real, por ultimo también nos gustaría que dedicaras algunas palabras a los lectores.

**Jajaja un saludo a todos mis amigos, esas personitas maravillosas que DA me ha permitido conocer y que me apoyan siempre.

1. Para comenzar ¿ Por qué no nos hablas algo sobre ti? (edad, que estudias o trabajas hoy en día, país, cuidad, algo más que quieras comentar.

Pues me pueden decir Jacqui o Jax! Soy panameña y tengo 25 años de edad, estudio Psicología y actualmente trabajo en escuelas haciendo investigaciones sobre mi carrera La fotografía es mi pasatiempo, así como el apreciar cualquier tipo de arte..
Me facina poder ayudar a las personas y sentirme útil, así que cualquier cosa me puedes mandar una nota con confianza y trataré de ayudarte!

To begin with, tell us something about you (age, what you are studying or working on, country, city, something else you want to say)

You can call me Jacqui or Jax! I’m Panamanian, I’m 25 and I study Psychology. I’m currently studying in schools doing some research related to my major. Photograph, as well as art appreciation, is my hobby.
I love being able to help people and feel I’m resourceful, so if you need anything, just send me a note and I’ll try to help you!

2. ¿Recuerdas cuando decidiste dedicarte a esto de la fotografía?
Bueno desde chiquita me gustaba la fotografía, pero mis padres no me dejaban utilizar mucho la cámara ya que eran muy cuidadosos con ella y el revelar salía caro también! De vez en cuando tomaba fotos con la cámara de mis papás, pero no fue hasta hace 3 años o un poquito más que me compraron una cámara propia y comencé a hacer de la fotografía mi pasatiempo favorito

Do you remember when you decided for the first time to become an photographer?

Well, since I was a kid I liked photography, but my parents wouldn’t let me use a lot the camera since they were very careful with it. Besides, developing films was expensive too! Every now and then I took pictures with my parents’ camera, but it was just about 3 years ago when they bought me my own camera and started doing photography my favorite hobby

3. ¿Has fotografiado contenidos adultos ? Que impresión tienen para ti?
Yo en lo personal no hago muchos retratos, apenas estoy entrando en ese área. Pero respeto mucho a las personas que toman fotos con contenidos adultos; ya que, para mi gusto, es muy difícil tomar una foto de este tipo que no se vea de manera obscena o morbosa, sino más bien artística y delicada. En sí el trabajar con personas me parece la parte más difícil de la fotografía.

Have you ever photograph adult content?? What impression do you have on them?

I personally don’t make a lot of portraits; I’m just starting in that area. However, I respect a lot people who take adult-oriented pictures since it is, in my opinion, really difficult to take that kind of pictures without it being obscene or morbid, but artistic and delicate. I think working with people is the most difficult part of photography.

4. ¿Cuales fotógrafos han influido en ti? (de tu niñez, adolescencia)
Uish.. la verdad no soy buena para los nombres y hay muchos fotógrafos profesionales (conocidos internacionalmente) que me han motivado a practicar la fotografía. De Panamá siempre me facinó Gustavo Araujo (ya difunto), ya que pude conocerlo porque trabajé cerca de él de modelo una vez en un cursito y debo decir que era un genial fotógrafo. Ahora mismo, admiro mayormente a compañeros de dA a los que pueden hecharle un vistazo: *meppol, =aksdareflection, ~Acwraith y por su puesto que a *Alephunky y a muchos más!

Which photographers have had an influence in you? (from your childhood, adolescence)

Jeez.. I’ve never been good for names, actually, and there are a lot of pro photographers (internationally renowned) that have motivated me to devote to photography. From Panama, I always loved Gustavo Araujo (deceased already), since I met him and worked with him as a model in some course. He was such a great photographer. Right now, I admire mainly dA mates, namely: *meppol, =aksdareflection, ~Acwraith and of course *Alephunky and many more!

5. ¿Qué herramientas usas para tomar las fotos?
Ahora mismo estoy con una Sony Alpha 100, un lente de 18-75 mm, otro lente de 75-300 mm.. Y pues cualquier luz que encuentre por mi casa! No tienen que tener carísimos equipos, sólo usen un poco la imaginación (la mejor herramienta) y tendrán grandes resultados!

What tools do you use when you take pictures?

Right now, I’m using a Sony Alpha 100, a 18-75 mm lens, and another 75-300 mm lens. And well, any light that comes into my house! You don’t have to use very expensive equipment; just use your imagination (the best tool) and you’ll get wonderful results

6. ¿Qué es lo que más te gusta fotografiar?
Lo que adoro fotografía sobre todoooo lo demás son a los gatos!!!! Soy amante de los gatos y simplemente me facinan! A lo mejor si me dicen de una sesión con contenido adulto inculyendo a un gato de manera tierna, ahí sí me sumo! jaja..
Aparte de los gatos, me facina hacer fotografía conceptual y fotografiar a la naturaleza.

What do you like photograph the most?

What I love photographing the most is cats!!!! I’m a cat lover! Maybe I’d participate in an adult-oriented session including a tender cat if asked to! haha..
In addition to cats, I also like conceptual photographs and taking pictures with nature themes.

7. Que es lo que más odias o se te hace aburrido fotografiar?
Se me hacen sumamente aburridas las clásicas fotos donde todos salen reídos, creo que por eso aún no me meto de lleno a los portarretratos. Para mi un porta retrato debe de ser algo más natural y no tan posado.. Además tanto con gatos como con personas, si no me inspira su look pues así mismo será mi inspiración con la persona y se refleja en las fotos de las cuales me aburro más rápidamente (y no hablo de si es bonito/a o no.. sino la chispa que tenga la persona y demás cualidades). Este me parece que es un asunto personal de con quién uno hace el "click" y qué tipo de fotografía tomes, por lo menos a mi me gustan mas las modelos de un modo más natural y no con excesos de maquillaje.

What do you hate or find boring to photograph?

I find absolutely boring those pictures where everyone appears smiling. Maybe that’s why I don’t do portraits that much. For me, a portrait has to be more natural, not a pose. Besides, both as for cats and people, if their look does not inspire me, such lack of inspiration will be evident in the pictures. That kind of photographs bore me quickly (and I’m not talking about being or not cute; it has to do more with the style and qualities of the person). This is a personal matter; you know, like finding a special connection and the type of photograph you’re taking. I like more natural models than those that use a lot of make-up.

8. ¿De dónde agarras la mayoría de tu inspiración?
La inspiración la tomo de muchos trabajos de dA, de la vida diaria (cuando estas aburrido/a y sólo te quedas pensando en tonterías - esos son buenos momentos para mí- jaja), de mi carrera y mis filosofías de vida.

where does most of your inspiration come from?

Many dA works inspire me, as well as the day-to-day life (when you’re bored and just thinking of stupid things - those are good moments for me - haha), my major and my way of life.

9. ¿Eres autodidacta o has cursado estudios?
Soy autodidacta, la verdad es que no es que haya leído mucho del tema sino experimentando. Estoy pensando entrar en un curso este año!

Are you self-taught or did you have education?

I’m self taught, but not really studying and reading, but experiencing. I’m considering signing up for a course this year!

10. ¿Tienes en mente algún proyecto especial, algo que siempre hayas querido hacer?
A ver.. siempre ando de proyecto en proyecto dentro de dA y creo que aún no me metería en ninguno nuevo, ya que entre BiblioteARTE: Biblioteca de Arte para Hispanos; Compartiendo un poco de Humor en dA (inglés); Apoyando al Arte (inglés), entre otros!

Do you have in mind some special project, something you always wanted to do?

I’m always working on projects in dA and I think I wouldn’t start a new one, since I’m already contributing to BiblioteARTE: Biblioteca de Arte para Hispanos (Art Library for the Hispanic); Compartiendo un poco de Humor en dA (inglés) (Sharing some Humor in dA [in Enlgish]); Apoyando al Arte (inglés) (Supporting Arts [in English]), among others!

11. ¿Cómo ha sido tu vida de fotógrafo? ¿Tienes alguna experiencia que desees contar a los lectores , tanto buenas como malas?
Malas experiencias no he tenido aún (Uff!). Las buenas experiencias son muchas, como el conocer a todos los grandes artistas de dA donde he hecho a muy buenos amigos/as; la verdad que para mí la fotografía es mi manera de comunicarme y de expresar mis sentimientos, emociones, miedos, etc.. es toda una catarsis!

How has your life been as a photographer? Any experience, good or bad, that you would like to share with the readers?

I haven’t had any bad experiences yet (*phew*). I’ve had many good experiences, like getting to know all great dA artists, where I’ve known very good friends; actually, photography is my way of communicating and expressing my feelings, emotions, fears, etc. It’s cathartic!

12. ¿Qué consejo darías a alguien que va comenzando con la fotografía?
Lo que considero que es más valioso es que NO TENGA MIEDO A EXPERIMENTAR! Cuando vas a tomar una foto, toma varias del mismo sujeto u objeto en todas las perspectivas posibles, agregando y quitando objetos a la toma, INTENTANLO TODO!! A veces las ideas más locas y raras, puede que sean las que te resulten mejor!
Segundo, aprende a aceptar la crítica constructiva de una buena manera y entiende que todos tenemos diferentes gustos. Si no te parece correcto lo que te dicen, piensa por qué es así y cuestiónate siempre por qué haces las cosas de X o Y manera

What advice would you give to someone that is starting with photography?

What I consider the most important is: NEVER BE AFRAID OF MAKING EXPERIMENTS! When you’re going to take a picture, take several of the same person or object from all possible perspectives, adding or removing elements; TRY EVERYTHING!! Sometimes, the craziest and weirdest ideas have the best outcomes!
Secondly, learn to accept the constructive criticism in a good manner and bear in mind that we all have different interests and styles. If you believe that what people say is not right, analyze why you think so and always question why you make things in one way or another.

13. ¿Internet es una buena plataforma de promoción para los fotógrafos?
Uhhh.. ajaja a mi parecer es BUENISIMA!!!!! Hay que aprovechar toda la tecnología que se nos brinde y saber ponerla de nuestro lado!

Is internet a good promotion platform for photographers?

I think it’s GREAT!!!!! We have to make good use and benefit from all the technology available!

14. En caso de no poder ganarte la vida con la fotografía...¿qué mas podrías hacer?
Yo no pretendo ganarme la vida como fotógrafa, pero sí pienso que es y será un aspecto muy importante de mi vida. Pienso practicar la fotografía como pasatiempo, pero lograr un nombre en este área y poder hacer una platita de vez en vez.
Como dije anteriormente, soy psicóloga y pues ahi creo que sí me puede dar para ganarme la vida.

If you couldn't take pictures for a living, what else could you do?

I’m not considering photograph as something I’ll do for a living, but I do think it’s a very important element in my life. I consider photograph as a hobby, but to become somehow famous in this area and get some income every now and then.
As I said before, I’m a psychologist and I think that’s a good thing to do for a living.

15. ¿Crees que intentar copiar el estilo de otro fotógrafo es una buena forma de aprender? ¿O hay maneras mejores?
Cada quien tiene sus formas de aprender y eso tiene que ser respetado, después de que se establezca una línea clara entre inspirarse de otro fotógrafo y plagiar su arte y su copyright. Me parece que sí podemos "imitarlos" en gran manera, pero siempre SIEMPRE varíen la imagen, sean creativos! La creatividad es lo que los hará grandes fotógrafos.

Do you think that trying to copy the style of another photographer is a good way to learn? Do you think there are better ways?

Everyone has his/her own way of learning and that’s something you have to respect, provided that there is a clear limit between obtaining inspiration from some photographer’s works and copy his art and violate his/her copyrights. I think we can "imitate them" in some ways, but you have to ALWAYS change the image; be creative! Creativity will make you great photographers.

16. Podrías dedicarle un saludo a quien desees de internet o en tu vida real, por último también nos gustaría que dedicaras algunas palabras a los lectores.
Ahora que escribo esta entrevista (de la cual me siento muy agradecida y feliz) pues creo que sí es muy importante agradecerle a aquellos artistas que mencioné anteriormente que me han inspirado y siguen inspirándome diariamente! Hola.. Pues tengo 27, me gradué en Diseño Gráfico y me dedico a diseño web desde hace 5 años. Vivo en la hermosa ciudad de Guadalajara México.

Hi. I’m 27, I graduated in Graphic Design and I’ve been working in web design for 5 years now. I live in the wonderful city of Guadalajara México.

2. ¿Recuerdas cuando decidiste dedicarte a esto de la fotografía?
Al principio empezó como una afición como cualquiera. Recién empezé a tomar fotos cuando tuve mi última novia (la modelo en casi todas mis fotos). Tomaba fotos de cualquier cosa, sin planeación como cualquier persona con una cámara. Jajaja. Pero conforme iba el tiempo, planeabamos juntos qué ropa usar, temas para la foto.

Do you remember when you decided for the first time to become an photographer?

In the beginning, it started as a simple hobby. I just started taking pictures when I dated my last girlfriend (the model in almost all my pictures). I took pictures of anything, without planning, as a regular person with a camera, haha. As time passed by, we planned what clothes we’d use, a theme for the picture, etc.

3. ¿Has fotografiado contenidos adultos ? Que impresión tienen para ti?
La verdad no. Me gusta mucho el tema Fetish sobre todo por la ropa. Pero no he tenido oportunidad de experimentar con este género simplemente por el hecho de no tener ropa de ese tipo. Bueno. Jajaja, además de que soy un poco celoso de mi novia, y no creo que podría subir fotos de ella así.

Have you ever photograph adult content?? What impression do you have on them?

Actually I haven’t. I like a lot the fetish things, especially as to clothes. However, I haven’t been able to try it just because there are no clothes available. Well... haha... besides I’m a bit jealous, you know... I think I wouldn’t upload any pictures of her with such a theme.

4. ¿Cuales fotógrafos han influido en ti? (de tu niñez, adolescencia)
Ufff.. Aquí sí me veré mal. La verdad no conozco muchos por nombre, me fascina ver revistas de moda y ver las fotos, como los toman y de ahí sacar ideas para emplearlas. Ver como usan la luz, que ropa usan. Pero si tuviera que escoger a uno. Sería mi papá. Que hasta la fecha sigue siendo fotógrafo profesional.

Which photographers have had an influence in you? (from your childhood, adolescence)
Ooops... I think this will make me look bad. Actually I don’t know a lot of them by name; I just love looking at fashion magazines and see the pictures, the way they are taken and get ideas to use them, see how light is used, the clothes they wear... However, if I had to choose one, it’d be my dad, who is still a pro photographer.

5. ¿Qué herramientas usas para tomar las fotos?

What tools do you use when you take pictures?
At this very moment, just my reliable Canon 350D (Rebel XT) with 24-85mm lens and my friend, the sun. In the future, I’d like to buy a better lens and a flash as a companion.

6. ¿Qué es lo que más te gusta fotografiar?
Me fascina la fotografía de moda. El uso de la ropa para expresar algo, me encanta de verdad. Y eso intento con mis trabajos. Buscar ropa diferente, o fuera de lo común, para usarlo en un ambiente que me guste y así crear mi pequeño mundo. Y si mezclo eso con algo más conceptual tienes mis trabajos.

What do you like photograph the most?
I love fashion-related photography. I love the idea of using specific clothes to express something. That’s what I try with my works: looking for different or some not-so-common clothes to use them in an environment I like and create my own little world. If you mix that with some more conceptual stuff, you get my works.

7. Que es lo que más odias o se te hace aburrido fotografiar?
Momentos familiares por así llamarlos. Donde ponen a gente pararse juntos y tomarles la foto, como si fueran un equipo de futbol Me gusta que tengan un algo diferente a lo normal. Por eso me gusta usar poses y ángulos raros que dejen a uno pensando como lo hizo.

What do you hate or find boring to photograph?
The so-called family moments, where people are put together to take a picture, as if they were a football team. I like my works to have something different; that’s why I like using different poses and angles so people say: “how did he do that?”

8. ¿De dónde agarras la mayoría de tu inspiración?
Viendo revistas, veo como trabajan los profesionales e imito la técnica en mi propia manera. No copiando en sí, más bien adaptandolo a mi manera, y ver como usarlo para mis propias ideas. Si no, no sería original, y me gusta mucho la originalidad.

where does most of your inspiration come from?
Looking at magazines, seeing how professionals work and I imitate the technique in my own personal way. I don’t just copy; I adapt it to my way instead and think how I can use that for my own purposes and expressing my own ideas. I really like originality.

9. ¿Eres autodidacta o has cursado estudios?
Autodidácta, empezé tomando fotos al azar de mi novia y yo. Al final sabía que podría hacer más, y lo tomé más serio.

Are you self-taught or did you have education?
I’m self-taught. I started taking random pictures of my girlfriend and me. Eventually, I knew I could do it better and made it in earnest.

10. ¿Tienes en mente algún proyecto especial, algo que siempre hayas querido hacer?
Uno en especial creo que no. Ya que cada día me surgen ideas nuevas. Cuando camino en la calle, veo paredes, casas derrumbadas, calles, y más. Y cada una de esas cosas me dan ideas nuevas, y de como realizarlos. La mayoría de las veces solo se quedan en ideas, pero siempre surge ago nuevo.

Do you have in mind some special project, something you always wanted to do?
I guess not one thing in particular. Every day I come with new ideas; when I walk down the street, I see walls, houses in ruins, streets... Each of those things gives me new ideas and makes me think how to materialize them. Most of the times, they remain just ideas, but always something new arises.

11. ¿Cómo a sido tu vida de fotógrafo? ¿Tienes alguna experiencia que desees contar a los lectores , tanto buenas como malas?
He conocido a más personas en este medio. Siempre buscando a quién o qué más tomar. Igual he asustado a personas haciendo eso. Hahaha. Parece que no a todo mundo le gusta ser modelo cuando le pide uno. Pero en su mayoría ha sido bueno. A muchos le ha gustado el estilo que adopté.

How has your life been as a photographer? Any experience, good or bad, that you would like to share with the readers?
I’ve gotten to know more people in this means. Always looking for my next person or thing to photograph. I also have frightened some people while doing it, haha. It seems not all people is willing to become a model when asked to. Anyway, most of it has been just fine; many people like the style I adopted.

12. ¿Qué consejo darías a alguien que va comenzando con la fotografía?
Siempre tener los ojos abiertos, y ver el mundo como si estuvieras fotografiando a cada instante. Buscar los ángulos en algo que te interese, y ver como se podría ver mejor. Nunca rendirse, a veces una toma no sale al momento, pero si lo vuelves a intentar después de tranquilizarse, saldrá mejor. Y aveces es mejor no borrar las fotos hasta el último momento. Me he topado con fotos que creí que saldrían mal cuando al final fueron las mejores. Y si es posible. Siempre cargar con cámara, nunca sabes con qué te puedas topar.

What advice would you give to someone that is starting with photography?
Always keep your eyes open and see the world as if you were photographing every single moment. Look for the angles of the object of your attention and think how it would look better. Never give up; sometimes, it takes many shots, but if you keep on trying after relaxing a bit, you’ll make it better. Sometimes it’s better not to delete the photos until the last moment; I’ve found out that some pictures I thought not good were, in the end, the best ones. And if possible, always carry a camera with you. You never know what you’ll see around the corner.

13. ¿Internet es una buena plataforma de promoción para los fotógrafos?
Yo pienso que sí. Estamos en un tiempo moderno donde todas las noticias pasan más rá ido por internet que por la tv, o radio incluso periodico. Así fui descubierto por muchos, y aunque sea un poco peligroso por el hecho que está abierto a todo mundo y pueden robar tus trabajos. Uno tiene que tomar riesgos en la vida.

Is internet a good promotion platform for photographers?
I think it is. In these modern times, news are more quickly transmitted through the internet than through the TV, the radio or the newspapers. That’s how many people got to know about me. It’s a bit dangerous, though, since it’s open to all people and your work might be stolen, but you have to assume risks.

14. En caso de no poder ganarte la vida con la fotografía...¿qué mas podrías hacer?
Me dedico ya al diseño y programación de páginas de internet, y diseño publicitario. La fotografía siempre ha estado en segundo lugar, aunque espero algún día estar al pie de los profesionales y publicar mis trabajos en revistas.

If you couldn't take pictures for a living, what else could you do?
I already do design, web page programming and marketing design. Photograph has always been on a second place, although I hope some day be a pro and publish my works in magazines.

15. ¿Crees que intentar copiar el estilo de otro fotógrafo es una buena forma de aprender? ¿O hay maneras mejores?
Si copias al pie de la letra, entonces no estarías aportando nada nuevo, y realmente no podrías llamarlo algo tuyo, algo único. Adoptar y aprender de como los otros lo hacen es una buena manera de aprender.

Do you think that trying to copy the style of another photographer is a good way to learn? Do you think there are better ways?
If you literally copy, you’re not contributing a single original thing and you can’t actually call it yours, something unique. Adopting and learning from others is a good way of learning, though

16. Podrías dedicarle un saludo a quien desees de internet o en tu vida real, por ultimo también nos gustaría que dedicaras algunas palabras a los lectores.
Saludos a todos los que han apoyado mis trabajos desde que empezé. Sé que al principio mis trabajos eran muy malas, jajaja, pero he ido creciendo en esto, y agradezco a todos los que han estado a mi lado en el camino. Y para los que quieran empezar en esto, no olviden experimentar. De los accidentes, salen los mejores inventos. Probar y probar.

1. Para comenzar ¿Por qué no nos hablas algo sobre ti? (edad, que estudias o trabajas hoy en día, país, cuidad, algo más que quieras comentar.

Pues que puedo decir, soy dibujante de corazón. Actualmente tengo 30 años o creo que mas, yo deje de contar desde ese numero (mis amigas dicen que no parezco, aseguran que tengo pacto con el diablo ha, ha). Inicie en la revista Domo hace muchos años, he trabajado en varias publicaciones de corte adulto (y no adulto, claro) aquí en México. Trabaje 2 años en un proyecto conjunto con SNK Playmore/ Evoga Entertainment comoDiseñador de personajes en el juego Rage of the Dragons, (aunque mas bien era de todologo pues se hacían muchas cosas mas) portadista y colaborador en la revista dibujarte, hasta hace un año trabajando como creativo en una compañía coreana - brasileña para hacer juegos de Gamble. Actualmente articulista e ilustrador cada que se puede, ha si y un video jugador empedernido. n_n

To begin with, tell us something about you (age, what you are studying or working on, country, city, something else you want to say)

What can I say, I’m a born drawing artist. I’m currently 30 years old, or maybe a bit older. I stopped counting from that point on. My girl friends say I don’t like I’m older than 30 and that I sold my soul or something, haha. I started some years ago in Domo magazine. I have worked in a number of adult-oriented publications here in Mexico (and not adult-oriented ones as well). I worked two years in a joint project with SNK Playmore/Evoga Entertainment as character designer for the game Rage of the Dragons (although I was more like all-purpose, since a lot of things were required); I was also cover designer and contributing author in the DibujArte magazine. Up to the last year, I was a graphic artist for a Korean-Brazilian company to produce games for Gamble. Currently I’m a contributing author and illustrator whenever it’s possible. Ah, and I’m also an inveterate gamer. n_n

2. ¿Recuerdas cuando decidiste dedicarte a esto de dibujar?
Si, desde muy chico en la primaria. Era muy curioso por que a esa edad creo que era el único que sabia lo quería ser el resto de mi vida.

Do you remember when you decided for the first time to become an artist?
Yes, since I was too young and was studying the elementary school. It was weird, because at that age I think I was the only kid who knew what he wanted to do for a living the rest of my life.

3. ¿Has dibujado alguna vez contenidos adultos? ¿Que impresión tienen para ti?


Me encanta el Hentai japonés, aunque hay otros autores que no le piden nada a nadie como Paolo Eleuteri que hace Drunna. Al principio lo compraba por el morbo pero con el tiempo como fan del comic te das cuenta que hay artistas muy buenos y con muchísima calidad, simplemente que prefirieron dedicarse al género adulto. Después como dibujante comienzas a fijarte mas en la técnica que tienen que en la parte 3x y descubres que hay mucho que se puede aprender de ellos, yo inicie dibujando cosas del estilo (ya oficialmente sin censura) en la primera parodia de una serie de video juegos que se publico por parte de una editorial aquí en México llamada “The Queen of fighters 99”

Have you ever drawn adult content? What impression do you have on them?

I love Japanese Hentai, although there are other authors that are as talented as Paolo Eleuteri, who makes Drunna. At the beginning, I bought it out of morbid curiosity, but as time passed by you realize, as a comic fan, that there are really talented and high-quality artists who just decided to make adult-oriented works. Later on, as an artist, you start focusing more on the technique, the 3-D things they make and stuff like that and you realize that there is a lot of things to learn from them. I started making that kind of things (officially uncensored) in the first parody of a videogame series published by a publishing house here in Mexico, namely “The Queen of Fighters 99”

4. ¿Cuales artistas han influido en ti? (de tu niñez, adolescencia)
Hijole, es que son demasiados. Diría yo que Satoshi Urushihara fue el que ocasiono que me enamorara del estilo Manga, también me encanta Frank Miller aunque no es mi tirada el comic estadounidense. Partiendo de ahí Hiroisa Tsuruta, Hiroyuki Utatane y en ultimas fechas OH great! (a estos 2 últimos los conocí por medio de su trabajo Hentai ja, ja)

Which artists have had an influence in you? (from your childhood, adolescence)
God, there are so many. I would say Satoshi Urushihara was the one who made me fall in love with Manga style. I also love Frank Miller works, although my approach is not to American comic. I also admire Hiroisa Tsuruta, Hiroyuki Utatane and, lately, OH great! (I got to know these last 2 due to their Hentai works, haha)

5. ¿Qué herramientas usas al dibujar?
Lo básico como lapiceros, minas de colores, manguillos para entintar y si se trata de aplicar línea digital y color en la computadora una tableta Wacom usando photoshop o Painter.

What tools do you use when you draw?
Basic stuff such as mechanical pencils, color leads, brayers and, if I have to make a digital line and color in the PC, a Wacom pen tablet using Photoshop or Painter.

6. ¿Qué es lo que más te gusta dibujar?

¡Chicas, chicas y más chicas! Bueno, también fondos en especial si son cosas como casas edificios, etc.

What do you like drawing the most?
¡Girls, girls and more girls! Well, I also like making background images, particularly houses, building and so on.

7. ¿Que es lo que más odias o se te hace aburrido dibujar?
Detesto dibujar animales, no se por que. Y me aburre dibujar multitudes o personas que solo están de “extras” parados en las páginas de comic.

What do you hate or find boring to draw?
I hate drawing animals. I don’t know why. And it’s also boring for me to draw crowds or people who are just like extra, background characters just standing in the comic pages.

8. ¿Cómo es que puedes dominar la anatomía tanto femenina como masculina?

Practica, practica y después de eso más practica. De hecho creo que aun me falta mucho que aprender.

How did you master both the female and male anatomy?
Practice, practice and, afterwards, practice. In fact, I think i still have a lot to learn.

9. ¿Eres autodidacta o has cursado estudios?

Diseño grafico, pero ahí no te enseñan nada relacionado con la historieta. En ese aspecto creo que casi todos los que nos dedicamos a esto tenemos una gran parte de autodidactas.

Are you self-taught or did you have education?
I have a graphic design major, but in that course you are not taught anything about comics. In that sense, I think that most of us, the artists who work in this industry, are self-taught.

10. ¿Tienes en mente algún proyecto especial, algo que siempre hayas querido hacer?

Un par de historias que me gustaría realizar en comic, la parte mala es que en México hacer o publicar una historieta propia simplemente no es posible. Así que de momento creo estará en “stan by”.

Do you have in mind some special project, something you always wanted to do?
A couple stories I would like to make in comic. The bad news is that here in Mexico producing or publish your own comic is just impossible. I think that, in the mean time, it will be in “stand by”.

11. ¿Cómo te ha ido con las comisiones? ¿Alguna experiencia que desees contar a los lectores , tanto buenas como malas

La verdad no llevo mucho tiempo haciendo comisiones, hasta ahora me han pedido las suficientes como para mantenerme entretenido si es que no tengo trabajo editorial pendiente en ese momento. Ni una experiencia mala, ojala así siga

How have you been doing with the commissions? Any experience, good or bad, that you would like to share with the readers?
Actually I have not made commissions for a long while. Up to this date, I have been commissioned enough to keep myself busy if I have no publishing work pending at that moment. It’s not been a bad experience, so I hope it remains that way.

12. ¿Qué consejo darías a alguien que va comenzando con comisiones?


1. Asegúrense de tener al menos una cuenta de debito para poder enlazarla con Paypal, de lo contrario esta en chino cobrar 0_=

2. Recuerden que su trabajo es la mejor carta de recomendación que pueden tener háganlo lo mejor que puedan y sean puntuales en las entregas.

What advice would you give to someone that is starting with commissions?

1. Make sure you have at least a bank account that may be linked to Paypal. Otherwise, being paid will be a pain 0_=

2. Remember that your works are the best recommendation letter you may have. Do it to the best of your ability and deliver your works in a timely manner.

13. ¿Internet es una buena plataforma de promoción para los dibujantes?
Claro que si.

Is internet a good promotion platform for artists?
Of course.

14. En caso de no poder ganarte la vida dibujando... ¿qué mas podrías hacer?

No se, hay varias cosas en las que creo soy bueno. Pero con honestidad creo que vivir haciendo algo que no amas termina por volverse una carga y probablemente lo harás mal y de malas. Dijo por ahí alguien sabiamente en la TV “hijo, si trabajas en lo que te gusta. Jamás trabajaras un solo día en tu vida” tenia razón n_n

If you couldn't draw for a living, what else could you do?

I don’t know, there are many things I’m good at, I think. However, I think doing something you don’t love for a living ends up becoming a hard work and more probably you’ll end up doing it bad and upset. Someone once wisely said on the TV: “Son, if you work in something you like, you won’t have to work a single day in your life.” He was right. n_n

15. ¿Crees que intentar copiar el estilo de otro artista es una buena forma de aprender? ¿O hay maneras mejores?

Todos aprendemos copiando, eso está bien pues nadie nace sabiendo. Pero que después de mucho practicar, conocer autores y quemarse las pestañas, un aspirante a dibujante que pretenda llamar la atención imitando el trabajo de otro es algo muy triste (aquí en México ya hemos visto clones de Satoshi Urushihara, Katsura y de otros que no recuerdo el nombre exacto pero hacen Love Hina y Psycho) tomar algo que nos guste y desarrollar un estilo propio es la mejor forma, agreguen constancia y no se arrepentirán.

Do you think that trying to copy the style of another artist is a good way to learn? Do you think there are better ways?

We all learn by copying. That’s fine because no one is born knowing already. However, it’s very sad to see someone who wants to become a drawing artist, after practicing a lot, getting to know authors and study a lot, imitating the works of another person. Here in Mexico we have already seen “clones” of Satoshi Urushihara, Katsura and another artists the names of whom I don’t remember, but who are the authors of Love Hina and Psycho. Taking something we like and developing a personal style is the best. Add constant devotion and you won’t regret it.

16. ¿Qué consejo les puedes dar a todas aquellas personas que están empezando a dibujar?


Los dos consejos que a mí me han servido desde el principio, el primero de Valente Espinosa quien me dijo cuando le enseñe mi primer comic y pretendía justificar mis errores mientras las veía “No hables, tu trabajo debe hablar por ti”

Y segundo, el que me dio Susy Romero. En una Mecyf después de que un dibujante veteranazo (vetenarazo en el sentido de que neto ya tenía una muy, larga trayectoria) me acababa de decir, que no dibujara cosas tipo manga por que aquí a nadie le gustaban. “todavía te falta aprender mucho, pero tu debes hacer lo que tu quieras. No lo que otros te digan, por que debe gustarte a ti. Igual un día hasta trabajamos en algo juntos”

What advice can you give to everyone starting to draw?
Two pieces of advice that have been useful for me since the beginning; the first one was from Valente Espinosa. When I showed him my first comic and tried to justify my mistakes while we were looking at it, he told me “Don’t speak. Your work must do it for you”.

The second one was given to me by Susy Romero. At a Mecyf, a real veteran drawing artist (real veteran in the sense that he really did have a very long, long track record) told me not to draw manga-style stuff, since no one liked it there. Then, she came and told me “you still have to learn a lot, but you have to do whatever you feel like, not anything someone tells you to. You have to like your work. Maybe some day we even work in a joint project”.

17. Podrías dedicarle un saludo a quien desees de Internet o en tu vida real, por ultimo también nos gustaría que dedicaras algunas palabras a los lectores.
